Ganpati Acrylic Painting
Ganesha, the Hindu elephant deity, has always been an artist’s delight to paint. He offers innumerable and fresh possibilities of how an individual artist can portray him, whether it be traditional or abstract! In this painting, I decided to portray him with four hands in a traditionally reclined posture. He is in a happy and content mood, blissfully reclined on his royal couch. The lotus held in one left arm symbolizes purity and the second left hand holds an Indian sweet called modak. This sweet symbolizes the sweetness of his realized inner self. The weapon in his right hand is used for removing obstacles from a devotee’s path. It is also used to break the shackles of negativity within. The second right hand is held up to bless the viewer. This is an acrylic painting done on a canvas stretched on a frame.
