African Woman Painting

Last summer I got the chance to visit Kenya and South Africa and I was amazed at the hospitality and sincerity of the Africans who I interacted with. Just wanted to come home and paint a vibrant picture of a beautiful African girl to remind me of my pleasant stay in Africa. The entire Picture of the African girl is done with oil pastels. The head gear is done with the special technique called sgraffito. The border is done with acrylics. Textures have been added to the border with 3-D outliners and the jewelry of the girl is done with dot mandala. I wanted to celebrate life so added as many colors as possible to the head gear. The border of leaves is given texture effect with sponge and gold metallic color.
