I once saw a competition of belly dancing. I found it very interesting as I saw that it takes incredible energy to move and catch every single music beat. It was fascinating and I wanted to capture it as a painting on the canvas. I used oil paints for this painting and had a great time making this art piece. Belly dance; more correctly referred to as Oriental Dance which is an Arabic expressive dance that has its origins in Egypt since ancient times. It features movements of the hips and torso. It has evolved to take many different forms depending on the country and region, both in costume and dance style; with Egyptian style the most recognized worldwide due to the Egyptian cinema. It is popular worldwide with many schools around the globe now practicing it.
