Horse Acrylic Painting

I love doing Portraits whether of animals or humans, and each manifests qualities of personality that are distinctly theirs. It shines out through the eyes of this beautiful brown stallion. This one has a calm strong presence. There are several layers of acrylic paint laid out on this canvas. The first layer is done using a knife loaded with colour. The stallion is then drawn out and filled in just enough to bring out his features. I finished up with a gloss varnish. Horses are symbols of strength and endurance and can inspire the viewer to keep going in difficult times and not lose the will to keep pushing forward.
