Circular Path is formed through layered materials and raw processes. Burnt cement, raffia, rope, and tubular elements are assembled into an organic circular structure where texture, density, and weight define the work’s presence. The surface carries traces of manipulation and pressure, revealing the physical processes through which the materials were shaped and brought together. The circular form suggests continuity without a fixed direction. Rather than guiding the viewer toward a beginning or an end, the structure holds a sense of constant movement and return. The eye travels across its uneven edges, following shifts in texture and form that create a subtle rhythm throughout the composition.

Materials traditionally associated with utility are removed from their functional context and reassembled through instinctive gestures. Their roughness, irregular surfaces, and visible tensions become essential to the work’s language. Small imbalances and material contrasts contribute to a dynamic equilibrium, allowing the form to feel both grounded and in motion. Through this interplay of structure and material, Circular Path reflects on cycles, repetition, and the quiet persistence of movement within form.

Cristina Alves is a self-taught sculpture artist from Doha (Qatar), specialising in handcrafted works created from recycled and reclaimed materials. Her sculptures serve as a powerful testament to resilience and transformation, breathing new life into discarded elements through thoughtful, sustainable design.
