Abstract River Painting

Smooth it glides upon its travel,
Here a wimple, there a gleam--
O the clean gravel!
O the smooth stream!

Sailing blossoms, silver fishes,
Pave pools as clear as air--
How a child wishes
To live down there!

We can see our colored faces
Floating on the shaken pool
Down in cool places,
Dim and very cool;

Till a wind or water wrinkle,
Dipping marten, plumping trout,
Spreads in a twinkle
And blots all out.

My work called Colorful river bed was inspired by the above poem penned by Robert Louis Stevenson, called ‘Looking-Glass River’ and the calming powers of a river. The beauty of the surrounding area created by the pebbles carried by the river evokes so many colors in our minds – it is mind-boggling. The colors in the painting are inspired by the colors of a beautiful river bed when the water recedes, further infusing the colors of nature into my work. The art is of acrylic medium and has gold leaf on it. As our souls were born in the water and shaped by the rivers, each of us is attracted to water and its sheer beauty. Inspired by the flow of nature, the colors of water - ArtbyAK is an expression of the purity of life force – the flow that brings us peace.
