Realistic Acrylic Painting

This is a realistic acrylic painting using the technique of blocked in and glazing before the details are added on to the subject. The artist present a Dallah, which is a traditional coffee pot used in Middle Eastern and Arabian homes. Dallah is used to brew and serve Arabic coffee since its origin in Yemen in the 15th century. The tradition, then travelled through the rest of the Middle East and have now become an integral part of the Middle Eastern culture. Through this painting, the artist depicts the Bedouin culture of hospitality and generosity.

Using warm tones of lighter browns and gold, the artist has finely painted the carving details on the dallah that sets its exterior beauty. The artist paints on the small cups used to serve the Arabic coffee and a basket laden with scrumptious dates, with aim to give the viewer an impression of a possible feast in waiting. Qahwa (Arabic coffee) is served with hot spices, usually cardamoms, hence the artist paints on tiny, shelled cardamom pieces. The richly painted, red texture of the table cloth adds on the significance of the possible feast to the viewer. This painting of Arabic dallah and the heavily laden table of the assortments signifies that in an Arabic culture a person has enough wealth to entertain others comfortably.
