Photography Print

This exhilarating abstract photographic work transforms the shimmering surface of a swimming pool into a kinetic field of color, light, and movement. Inspired by the vibrant visual language associated with David Hockney’s celebrated swimming-pool imagery, the photograph moves beyond representation to capture the sensation of water as an ever-changing visual phenomenon. Intense electric hues dominate the composition, punctuated by flashes of contrasting hot colours. The manipulated palette gives the ripples an almost neon luminosity, while horizontal bands and fluid distortions create a powerful sense of speed and motion. Each reflected highlight appears to flicker across the surface, suggesting sunlight, movement, and the constantly shifting nature of water.

The work’s strength lies in its refusal to offer a single, stable viewpoint. Forms dissolve, stretch, overlap, and reappear, encouraging the eye to travel continuously across the image. What begins as a recognizable swimming pool becomes an immersive abstract composition in which color and rhythm take precedence over subject. Contemporary and visually arresting, this image celebrates the boundary between photography and painting. Its bold chromatic contrasts, expressive manipulation, and energetic surface make it a compelling statement piece an invitation to experience water not simply as a subject, but as a dynamic language of light, color, reflection, and movement.
