Mixed Media Painting

Ephemeral Nectar is an exploration of pause: a reminder to notice, to feel, and to linger, even if only for a moment. This artwork captures the fleeting intimacy between a hummingbird and its bloom. With this mixed media composition, I invite you to step into a world where painting meets sculpture. As we look at the artwork, our eyes are immediately drawn towards an iridescent humming bird which is surrounded by four lush roses and a rose bud blooming in a romantic palette of blush, champagne, and shades of deep rose pink. Each petal has been individually hand crafted in epoxy resin, shaped, and then assembled together to create the flower, giving it an extraordinary lifelike depth and luminosity. Creating each rose has been an extremely tedious but exceptionally rewarding experience. Delicate hand-painted branches weave across a soft, warm background, while glossy resin leaves catch the light from every angle, allowing the piece to evolve throughout the day as the light shifts—never fixed, always in subtle transformation.

Techniques used in this creation include acrylic painting on a flat canvas with a botanical background, texture paste to give depth, hand-sculpted epoxy resin florals & foliage, along with multi-layer resin pour for depth and gloss to create a shadow play in natural light. This piece, which is meant to evoke both fragility and quiet opulence, reflects a sense of harmony between energy & calm and presence & impermanence. Due to the generous use of epoxy resin, this artwork will need a temperature-controlled environment to shine and thrive.
