Horses Abstract Painting

The abstract painting I created reflects my expressive use of color, gestural brush strokes, and effervescent spontaneity. my use of color conveys an infectious emotive power. My childhood living in mountain foothills has definitely influenced me to use vibrant color, bold lines, and expressive marks, and my respect for the natural world. I start with an intention – a word, thought, feeling – to help focus as I begin a painting. I paint intuitively, and as the painting progresses, I ask, What is seen, unseen? What has been covered, yet influences the painting? I adapt to the shifts and changes as the painting takes form, building layers, staying flexible and open to the challenges each painting presents. I want to convey a feeling or an idea with an element of mystery and balance that with the emotional capacity of color. The main symbols that depict the horse are courage and freedom. This majestic animal is a being of power, independence, freedom, nobleness, endurance, confidence, triumph, heroism, and competition. The horse is an essential part of history, mythology, and folklore as it was man's most loyal companion in battle. This wild creature motivates us to move forward, succeed in our ventures, and become the best version we can become.
