Water Color Painting

This orange thick water color gouache on paper painting conveys the potentialities in each human being. This one has gems in her hair that represent the various talents and qualities in her that she can bring out and polish. The calm contentment reflects in her sober yet cheerful eyes. This was inspired by the quotation: “Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value…” I did this with a few knife strokes of thick paint, and while the paint was wet, gave the hair strokes. Later, I added the gems and eyes. It is 50 x 35 cms and is framed. The layers of knife strokes form the shape of her nose and neckline. I paint what I believe in, concepts such as nobility of man and potentialities within each person, and hope that the viewer leaves with an uplifted spirit.
