This powerful picture is 73 x 103 cm, framed, stretched canvas on wood. This beautiful acrylic painting is a part of a series in the “Plants”. Plants are autotrophic organisms that produce their own energy and oxygen through photosynthesis (using sunlight, water, and CO2). They consist primarily of roots (nutrient uptake), stems (stability/transport), and leaves (photosynthesis). Flowers serve for reproduction. Plants are green because they contain the pigment chlorophyll, which is necessary for photosynthesis. Chlorophyll absorbs red and blue light to produce energy, but reflects green light. Because this green light is not absorbed, the plant appears green to our eyes.

The color green primarily symbolizes nature, hope, life, growth, and freshness. It has a calming and balancing effect and promotes rest and regeneration. Furthermore, green represents health, safety, new beginnings and confidence. Twining plants are climbing plants that twine their main stem around supports (such as poles, ropes, or other plants) to grow upwards. They absolutely require a vertical support. Unlike tendril plants, which use adhesive organs, the entire shoot twines around the support. I see in this plant again the topic of movement through the twisting of shoots in climbing plants. The beautiful color green is a sign of hope for me.
