Hibiscus Flower Acrylic Painting

This vibrant acrylic painting captures the radiant essence of hibiscus flowers in full bloom. As a Leo, I have always felt very drawn to hibiscus and sunflowers. Hibiscus invokes a sense of the “fire of life”, that is nurturing, yet dynamic at the same time. I often use it, like most Indian households, as a spiritual offering. It symbolizes generation and protection for me. I have used a rich texture particularly on the petals to make them pop against the softer, mossy background. The interplay of deep reds and corals against a green backdrop gives the flowers a three-dimensional weight, while the stippled yellow anthers add a delicate, flickering contrast. The juxtaposition of the warm red against the soothing green is to bring the right balance that also soothes the senses. I have drawn inspiration from the raw energy of nature, transforming a simple botanical subject into a bold statement of life and resilience, a celebration of transient beauty.

As a self-taught artist, Shraboni Banerji has had a passion for art since childhood. For her, painting is more like meditation and self-expression. Her artwork has a special combination of abstract and figures. Each of her paintings are conceptual and have a different story to tell. While her style is predominantly figurative, she weaves elements of nature into nearly every composition, honoring the essential role nature plays in our existence and grounding her work in the beauty of the world around us.
