A mosque is a house of prayer, and a place of prostration. The word evolved from the Arabic term masjid, which means "place of prostration." During prayer, Muslims briefly kneel and touch their foreheads to the ground as a sign of submission to the will of God. I am mesmerized to see so many beautiful and magnificent mosques in UAE. Be it the beautiful white Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi, Al Noor mosque of Sharjah or Grand Jumeirah Mosque of Dubai, each one of them is unique and marvelous. The architecture of the mosques is shaped most strongly by the regional traditions of the time and place where it was built. As a result, style, layout, and decoration can vary greatly. Nevertheless, because of the common function of the mosque as a place of congregational prayer, certain architectural features appear in mosques all over the world.

This artwork focuses on the architectural features of a mosque. The common features of the architecture of mosque are Sahn (Courtyard), Mihrab (niche), Minaret (tower), Qubba (dome) and decorative elements. In this artwork I have used acrylic colors to showcase the architecture of a mosque. This artwork shows Qubba (dome) and Minaret (Tower) of a mosque. Both these features are beautifully and carefully painted with light colors. The intricate details of the minaret adds beauty to this architectural artwork.
