A floral theme-based Terracotta Planter/Flower Pot. While creating it I had anything and everything related to ‘flower symbolism’ in mind – the symbolic language has been recognized for centuries all over the world. Nearly every sentiment imaginable can be expressed with flowers – chastity, purity, loveliness, kindness, bashfulness, remembrance and passion, cheerfulness, magic and eternal love.
My affinity to antiques (reflected also by the choice of 3D embellishments and use of golden wax paste) and vintage transported me to as far back as the Victorian era. It is known that nearly all Victorian homes had, alongside the Bible, guidebooks for deciphering the ‘language of flowers’. Interestingly during this era, flowers were used to deliver messages that couldn’t be spoken aloud – a silent dialogue – “yes” if flowers were handed over with the right hand and “no” if the left hand was used.
Most of all I’ve always felt that flowers, greenery and vegetation are the best yet simplest of ways to incorporate biophilic design into our interiors; to bring the outside inside; to connect with nature; a brilliantly lit up day. I feel in today's world, engulfed in a massive technological revolution, most of us feel more and more alienated from our natural surroundings and desire a personal sanctuary to switch off occasionally and delve into the realms of nature around us.
