Abstract Mixed Media Painting

This piece is called “A Midnight Blur” because it reminds me of those nights when everything feels a little hazy, and your thoughts, emotions, and memories blend into one. It’s that quiet hour when the world is asleep, but your mind is still wandering. That’s the feeling I wanted to capture through this painting.

I started with modelling paste to build texture first. I love how it adds depth; before any paint touches the surface, it tells a story. After that, I layered on shades of blue, adding touches of grey, white, and a very muted purple tone, almost like a greyish lilac. I kept the palette cool and calm to reflect that midnight energy, where things feel still but not empty. The silver foil circle represents the moon, always there, quietly watching. I also added little touches of metallic silver in some areas to create that soft, reflective effect you sometimes see when moonlight hits uneven surfaces. It catches the light just enough to shift as you move.

This painting came together during one of those reflective phases, where silence felt comforting and loud. It’s personal, but I hope whoever sees it finds their version of calm or connection in it.
