Sunset Acrylic Painting

A hyper realistic landscape painting, using the technique of blocked in and glazing painted before adding on the details. The medium used is heavy body acrylics on a canvas board panel. This painting is my artist version from a holiday photo reference of a Hawaiian ocean. The painting's title 'Midsummer's Sunset!' is inspired from the Shakespeare play; A Midsummer's Night Dream because of the balmy summer air breezing over the sunset to bring upon the dream-like golden dusk. The background of dusking sky is painted using palettes of blue, violet and grey and the middle ground spread with warm tones of gold and yellow. The evening colors spread out in the sky embosses the feel of the sun's glorious setting to the viewers. The calm swaying of waters at the foreground is painted using darker tones of ultramarine blue, black and white. With the silhouettes of rocks and trees at far distance, it gives the eyes a sense of enigma of the evening and the night to come.
