Moroccan Tales is a color pencil painting inspired by a photo found on Pinterest. What drew me in was the color palette. The vibrant complementary and spit complementary palette inspired me to capture the interior of the photo using Prism color pencils on acid free 400 series Strathmore artist paper. I used a grid system to sketch out the interior and then started coloring it in from the center outwards. I slowly progressed to the exterior, sketching and coloring the walls, marble pillars and entryway. As a kid, I was always fascinated by hotel lobbies and this picture reminded me of an interior of a hotel, with the added bonus of the old majestic door and entryway.

My obsession with antique doors, their historical significance, and weathered rustic appearances led me to create a collection called “Doors With Soul”, where I use various mediums to create antique doors. Antique doors are a reminder for me that growing old can be graceful and not necessary a bad thing. With age comes wisdom and experience and the ability to appreciate time and the mundane things in life. These doors are located in various cities around the world and my dream and bucket list is to one day find them and take a picture with them.
