Light Painting Art

In 2020, Roy Wang participated in a mobile phone event and traveled to Qinghai. At the Emerald Lake at an altitude of 4,000 meters, he used a mobile phone to capture this photo, drawing a giant Kun flying in the air. The Kun is a flying fish in Chinese mythology. The mirror-like reflection of the salt lake gives this work a sense of mystery. After creating this work, he officially began his Mythical Creatures series.

Hailed as China’s leading light-painting artist, Roy Wang pioneers a Chinese Romantic aesthetic, reviving mythical creatures from the ancient classic Shan Hai Jing across modern architectural skylines. Holding four Guinness World Records, his viral creations use light as a brush and the night as a canvas, captured entirely in-camera without any digital manipulation or post-processing.
