Buddha Mixed media Painting

Buddha!! He epitomizes tranquility, serenity, calmness and peace. All these virtues are needed by us more today than any other time. May we all get inspiration from him and make our lives better and happier. I got to know the true essence of Buddha when I went for the Everest base camp trek. The entire trail is soaked in the spirit of Buddhism and is adorned with innumerable sculptures and temples of the lord. It was a very divine experience to visit some of the great temples and places dedicated to him.

The painting has been made with two contrasting backgrounds. Buddha attained nirvana under the famous Bodhi tree in Gaya so it was apt to include these leaves in the backdrop. Also the whole trek has huge boulders engraved with the chant which I have used in my painting also. I have used all the main elements which go with Buddha namely, the bodhi leaves, the monastery bells, the Buddhist chant and his alms bowl. The painting is made with oil pastels and pastel pencils. The glowing circle behind buddha is made with different textures to bring the right effect. This painting is made on acid free pastel sheet. It can be framed on request.
