For me, this painting carries a personal memory of home. Growing up, seeing a peacock was something special — they were not easily encountered. Today, in many parts of India, their presence feels very different. They have become increasingly familiar, appearing around villages, towns, gardens, and other spaces shared with people. Their story offers an interesting reminder: when we give nature space, some species can learn to thrive alongside us.

But that possibility is not the same for every species. Some animals that were once common around us gradually disappear when their habitats, food sources, and safe spaces are lost. The peacock reminds us of both possibilities — the beauty of a species that has found room to flourish, and the responsibility we have to ensure others are given that same chance.
