Abstract Mosaic Artwork

I had been saving all those cans for something but it took me around 4 years to finally put them to good use. What better way to remind people about our environment than to use what we normally throw away and create a piece that incorporates craft and graphics as a statement reminding us all that our resources are finite, our space is limited, and our Earth is precious. This original mosaic is made from around 14,000 individual pieces and took about 2 months to complete, working an hour at a time to fit the pieces together in sections with far more precision and to also glue those sections. Not only is it more precise, the method takes less time and is far less messy than working one piece at a time. Using popular consumer culture as its basis, the piece evokes both destruction and rebuilding as the focus of the environment and our treatment of it.
