Peacock Mixed Media Painting

This painting is inspired by my spiritual journey and recovery from childhood trauma. The weathered door which represents my age and memories that have come with it. The beauty and acceptance of getting old gracefully and with confidence. The peacock symbolizes protection, masculinity, beauty, and new beginnings. This represents my ability to balance my masculine and feminine energies, and to be able to reparent and protect myself in a way that I couldn’t as a child and young adult. Peacocks also symbolize positive renewal, growth as well as self-love and acceptance, I used stucco putty and wood shavings for the texture of wall, flowers and vines and eggshells for texture towards the bottom of the door, as eggs also represent new beginnings, protection and rebirth which aligns with the theme of the painting. I also used gel and thickening paste with acrylic to create the letter box and door handle. The overall mood and colors bring a sense of power and strength to the viewer.
