Serendipity is when someone accidentally finds something good. An unsought, unintended, and/or unexpected, but fortunate, discovery and/or learning experience that happens by accident. Serendipity is an unplanned fortunate discovery. Here the artist Kavita Sriram has hand sculpted the painting in resin clay on a canvas board. The painting is then painted on the clay. The borders running around the painting are also hand sculpted in clay. The base of the painting on the canvas has been given a textured effect with paper. This painting is framed with a mounting board in creme color & then framed without glass. The Artist has created this entire series with the relief technique, sculpting the artwork in resin clay. RELIEF PAINTING: Relief is a sculptural technique, where the sculpted elements (CLAY/ TEXTURE PASTE) remain attached to a solid background of the same material. The term relief MEANS to raise, to create a sculpture in relief is to give the impression that the sculpted material has been raised above the background plan, giving it a 3 dimensional effect.
