Birds Watercolor Painting

A flamingo a day keeps the negativity at bay;) I have painted a couple of flamingos in their traditional pink color, with a contrasting bright teal and blue background. I have made use of my favorite paint medium, watercolors to blend together this realistic piece of these 2 gorgeous animals standing on their feet, or should I say, foot! Did you know, since birds lose a lot of heat through their legs and feet, flamingos keep one leg closer to the body to keep warm, and that's why they stand on one leg. They also do this to conserve their energy and load all their body weight on one sturdy leg. While painting this I had uncertainties about the realism of it, but trusting the process is really the key. Ever since I was a young girl, flamingoes indeed have been my favorite animals but I have only seen them in real life maybe 2-3 times. They tend to shy away from large human crowds. Nonetheless, they are extremely peaceful and harmless animals and I hope I did justice to their beauty through this piece! The painting brings a pop of color into your cozy home.
