Abstract Mixed Media Painting

Sometimes we get so caught up in the past that we forget to be grateful for today and everything we already have in our lives. This painting was created using mix media: acrylic paint, glue gun, gloss gel, and rose gold leaf. The three circles in the painting indicate our past, present and future and how they are all connected, provided we learn from the past, not worry about the future, and stay present in the here and now.

The abstract dancing koi fish remind the viewer that when we dance with the rhythm of our own heartbeat, flow with life, and stay present, we can trust that all is well. Spring is not a season in this painting but a state of mind, knowing that we can start again at anytime. "Spring Fever" is the part of the Koi Harmony Collection highlighting the joy of spring and fresh beginnings with an abstract theme of dancing koi fish. The Koi Harmony Collection highlights the symbolism of koi in Japanese philosophy and color harmony that has deep meaning and significance. Using color theory as the basis for my palettes, I created a juxtaposition of excitement and calmness in this collection. Koi signify the importance of balance and resilience amidst the trials and tribulations of everyday life.
