Sunflowers Acrylic Painting

This acrylic painting is a rhythmic and expressive interpretation of sunflowers. The swirling, flame-like petals suggest movement, as if the flowers are dancing under the heat of a midday sun. As a Leo, I have always felt very drawn to hibiscus and sunflowers. The blistering summers of my country are my source of inspiration for this artwork. A celebration of vitality and solar energy, the painting radiates boundless energy and joy. My work focuses on the “spirit” of the sunflower rather than its literal form. I have tried to impress upon the viewer the feeling of warmth, resilience, vibrance and the untamed power of nature’s growth. I have relied heavily on bold, gestural brushwork. Using a "wet-on-wet" approach in the petals, I have blended various shades of ochre, cadmium yellow, and burnt orange directly on the canvas to create depth and motion. For the centers of the flowers,

I have used a stippling or dabbing method to build up a dense, seed-like complexity that anchors the swirling energy of the petals. As a self-taught artist, Shraboni Banerji has had a passion for art since childhood. For her, painting is more like meditation and self-expression. Her artwork has a special combination of abstract and figures. Each of her paintings are conceptual and have a different story to tell. While her style is predominantly figurative, she weaves elements of nature into nearly every composition, honouring the essential role nature plays in our existence and grounding her work in the beauty of the world around us.
