This black-and-white photograph of Taipei 101 was taken with the intent to capture not just a skyscraper, but a symbol of ambition and design meeting the sky. I was inspired by the symmetry and vertical momentum seen in architectural photography, where form becomes a story in itself. The clean, repetitive lines and the sharp angles of Taipei 101 lend themselves naturally to a monochrome treatment—stripping away color to let the structure’s geometry, weight, and rhythm speak more clearly. Shot on a digital mirrorless camera, this image was processed with a high-contrast black-and-white conversion to emphasize texture and tonal depth. I deliberately chose a low, almost ground-level angle to exaggerate the scale and create a dynamic perspective. This viewpoint draws the eye upward, instilling a sense of awe and quiet reverence—inviting viewers to feel both small and uplifted. My photographic style often leans toward minimalism, using contrast and composition to create emotion through simplicity. With this piece, I wanted to explore the intersection of structure and atmosphere. I hope the image evokes stillness within motion, and the strange serenity of standing at the base of something impossibly tall. This is minimalism with gravity, and architecture as quiet power.
