It shocks me, time and again, when I realize that a vast majority of us have forgotten that we humans share this planet with other animals. We are supposed to co-exist with the flora and fauna of earth and have no right to do otherwise. Animals deserve to live peacefully in their natural habitat, they thrive best while doing so. Birds, among other wildlife, have been gifted with the unique ability of flight. Add to that the varied colors they possess, its certainly a visual delight to watch them at their playful best. However, they cannot do so behind bars. The lockdown resulting out of Covid-19 outbreak led to us being locked into our homes and perhaps that time would make us empathize with birds and other animals on the need to have the liberty of living your life the way you desire. Watching the birds at their playful best certainly brings a sense of joy to me, and I am sure most of you would share this feeling. This artwork is an attempt to portray this joy we can see in us while watching the birds mind their business. Adding a touch of Madhubani style to this artwork to bring out a rustic look and a peculiar way of depicting bird figures.
