Abstract Alcohol Ink Painting

The Calm Within explores the idea of finding stillness within movement. Created with alcohol ink on canvas, the work unfolds through flowing layers of teal, soft blush, warm brown, grey, and delicate neutral tones. The colours move organically across the surface, meeting and separating in forms that suggest leaves, petals, flowing water, or an imagined landscape. The composition carries a strong sense of movement, yet its muted palette and open spaces create an underlying feeling of calm. The forms appear to emerge from a central point before expanding outward, reflecting the contrast between our constantly changing surroundings and the quieter space we carry within ourselves.

The natural behaviour of alcohol ink is central to the work. Rather than controlling every detail, the artist allows the medium to find its own direction, creating translucent layers, soft edges, and unexpected intersections. This balance between intention and spontaneity becomes part of the narrative itself. The Calm Within is a reflection on slowing down, reconnecting with oneself, and discovering moments of clarity amid the movement of everyday life. Its organic forms remain deliberately open to interpretation, inviting each viewer to find their own landscape and meaning within the composition. With its gentle palette and fluid movement, the work brings a quiet, contemplative presence to contemporary interiors.
