The masks we wear is a portrait suspended between playfulness and quiet sorrow. The form suggests childhood, innocence, and make-believe. Yet the eyes carry something heavier. A sadness that doesn’t belong to play, but has learned how to hide behind a mask. A clown nose. This piece lives in the space between what is shown and what is felt. The instinct to perform happiness. The habit of smiling through emotions too complex to name. Sometimes it reads as innocent sadness. Sometimes as adult grief dressed in childlike colors.
