Scarlet Macaw Another addition to my Bird-Series the scarlet Macaw is a tropical parrot that is an awe-aspiring combination of Red, Blue and Yellow feathers. The inspiration to paint birds first has always arisen from my Ornithophobia, which is an irrational fear of birds. To ease my anxiety towards birds, I took initiative to paint and endear the creature, reducing my panic response each time I encountered them in life. The beautiful bird is native to the tropical Amazonian rainforest with highly reducing numbers in the past few years. Poached to be pets and also threatened in existence due to the massive deforestation, the Macaw’s beauty is in grave need of preservation and care. While painting the majestic bird, I used layers and layers of paints to try and bring justice to the ruffled feathers around the parrot’s neck, its slightly puffed-up wings and the beauty of its vibrant colours. The Scarlet Macaw painting is made on a soft, sunset yellow and orange background, the starkly contrasts the texture of the beautiful bird. The painting is created on high quality Masterpiece canvas that is fit to gallery standards.
