Villain Photography Print

‘The Villain’ is one of Dominik’s favorite photos he has taken to date. This photoshoot came to life when Dominik was asked to conduct a photoshoot to be recorded for his documentary. One of the main features of this artwork is the decision that Dominik took to purposefully not lighten the eyes. Dominik wanted to focus more on the gold and the structure of the actual model's face. This piece is called ‘The Villain’ as Dominik wanted to demonstrate through the darkened eyes effect that there is a lot of anger and scariness within his soul. Dominik wanted to illustrate that every villain has a reason or story to act the way they do to make them become the villain.

It was key to also highlight the sadness and loneliness aspect of a villain going through their journey to becoming what they are. This art piece was taken with a one-light setup. This was chosen as it adds a nice gradient in the backdrop but also enough light to show his facial structure without highlighting the subject's eyes. The focus of the photo then becomes more on the reflections of the gold on his body. This makeup look was also performed by a Hollywood standard makeup artist, Natalia Osipova.
