Burned Paper Artwork

This artwork is a burned paper art original. This extremely unique artwork is created by weaving the burned paper to reflect light and accepts the embellishments beautifully. I want the viewers to find my creations meditative and touch their lives.

This extremely unique form of art explores the process of what happens when fire meets paper. Each piece is completely unique and created with multiple layers of acid free high-density paper cut/torn by hand and then burned to give a range of effects from delicate thin lines to beautiful dark edges. To create each finished artwork I spend hours designing, cutting, folding, burning and glueing paper, in order to achieve the required depth and movement. I approach the process with a mixture of curiosity and precision. Some pieces are created intuitively, while others are pre designed, with each element drawn individually and recreated in consecutive layers.
