The sculptural forms enter from different directions, creating a visual dialogue across the canvas. Rather than colliding, they appear to approach one another, leaving an open space between them. The title suggests a meeting point—a place where energies, memories, experiences, or ideas come together without losing their individuality. The inspiration came from observing how natural systems create moments of balance between opposing forces. Rivers merge, winds intersect, and geological formations reveal traces of pressure and movement accumulated over time. I was interested in translating this phenomenon into a visual language that remains abstract yet emotionally resonant.

The central open space emerged naturally during the process and became a critical element of the work, acting as both a pause and a point of tension. As with the first work in the series, fabric serves as the primary material. Through folding, draping, stretching, and fixing the textile onto the support, I create a sculptural surface that records the physical process of its making. A monochromatic white finish removes the distraction of color and allows texture to become the central subject. Light becomes an active participant, defining the relief through shifting highlights and shadows. I would like viewers to experience both movement and openness. The textured sections create visual energy, while the untouched center offers a moment of calm. Together they create a balance that encourages contemplation. There is no single interpretation; the forms may suggest landscapes, flowing water, fabric, memory, or even emotional states. This work reflects my belief that absence can be as meaningful as presence. The empty space is not a void but an active part of the composition, creating room for imagination and personal reflection. It embodies a balance I continue to explore in my practice—the relationship between what is revealed and what is left unsaid. For that reason, this piece feels particularly personal, serving as a meditation on connection, distance, and the quiet spaces that exist between them.

Yulia Verigina is a Moscow born, Dubai based visual artist who masterfully blends her expertise in photography and speed painting into evocative figurative art.
