Naved Hashmi is a self taught Pakistani artist whose creative relationship with art began as a personal pursuit in Pakistan, evolving through his time in Singapore and now in Dubai. Specialising in hyperrealistic portraiture and calligraphy, he works primarily in oil paint and charcoal, occasionally incorporating delicate gold foil accents into his compositions.
His work is deeply rooted in his South Asian heritage and a profound love for Urdu poetry and literature. Naved is fascinated by the human face, viewing it not simply as a subject for realistic reproduction, but as a visual landscape of memory, identity, and unspoken emotion.
Alongside portraiture, calligraphy allows him to translate the written word into a visual dimension, bringing forward the poetry and ideas that have shaped his worldview. Drawn to themes of longing, pain, resilience, belonging, and defiance, Naved creates art that remains personal yet borderless, carrying his cultural origins while allowing viewers to find reflection within each canvas.
