Sonu is a multi award winning contemporary artist based in Dubai whose practice explores emotion and storytelling through color, form, and abstraction. Originally from Kolkata, India, she transitioned from a career in law to visual art after moving to Dubai in 2013, developing a practice rooted in experimentation with various mediums, particularly Alcohol Ink. Her vibrant semi- abstract works often emerge as therapeutic landscapes and figurative works that reflect both her inner world and the cultural influences she encounters through travel.
A significant milestone in Sonu’s career was her solo exhibition Inhale Exhale (June–September 2023) held at FN Designs Gallery in Dubai’s Alserkal Avenue. This highly acclaimed show highlighted her distinctive style and deep artistic vision, marking a defining moment in her journey as an artist.
Sonu’s work has also been exhibited extensively across the UAE and internationally, including prestigious events such as the Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival, World Art Dubai, and Fabriano Italy’s International Watercolor Exhibition. She has also embraced new digital media, presenting her NFT collection at ART Dubai 2022. Her work has been widely collected by art lovers all over the world and she is also known for doing large scale commissioned works for art consultants and private clients in the region.
Her achievements include the Noon Artist Award 2019, Ras Al Khaimah Fine Art Awards 2022, recognition as one of the “Top 10 Emerging Artists” at World Art Dubai and UAE Cultural Visa awarded for her contributions to art and photography.
Beyond creating art, Sonu is dedicated to mentoring children and also leads Alcohol Ink workshops, sharing her passion with diverse audiences.
