Abstract Mixed Media Painting

Your Greatest Flaw Is Also Your Greatest Strength. Focusing on your insecurities and flaws will only give you the wrong perspective of things, and it could even lead to the wrong set of decisions or the wrong path because you're trying so hard to change your flaws. Embracing your flaws will allow you to have the right perspective, both on the world and on yourself.

When you learn to accept your flaws, you learn how to be happy with who you are now until you get to where you want to be. You don’t compare yourself to those ahead of you and feel insecure about yourself and your accomplishments. And not just because all humans are flawed and complex, but also because your biggest flaws are almost certainly tied up together with your greatest strengths. Embracing imperfections by practicing self-acceptance allows you to let go of the need to conform to the unrealistic standards you set for yourself, to be free to lead a meaningful life.

The first step towards embracing imperfections is to be mindful and shift your perspective regarding how you perceive yourself. If you look closely at a tree, you’ll notice its knots and dead branches, just like our bodies. What we learn is that beauty and imperfection go together wonderfully. Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. It means that you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections. You don’t look at accepting your flaws as complacency or lack of ambition; you look at it as compassion and self-love; knowing you’ll never be perfect, you’ll never look a certain way, and you’ll never entirely love everything about yourself, but that won’t stop you from embracing your flaws.

Learning to love what you can’t change. Feeling good enough and knowing your worth instead of looking at yourself through the eyes of others. The beauty of learning to accept your flaws is that it takes away the pressure to impress people or always trying to measure up to someone. When you learn to accept your flaws, you learn how to fight your own battles and win, and you learn how to shield yourself from unnecessary wars.

There's a story behind this painting. This canvas tore accidentally while I was painting a landscape on it. Instead of discarding it, I thought, why not emphasize its flaws? So I stitched it back and decorated it with gold leaf to highlight its flaws. We should do it to ourselves also. We should embrace our flaws and make them our strength. No one is perfect in this world, so be true to yourself. Mixed media Art with gold leaf detailing and hand-stitched thread work.
