This painting is part of the series "The Thousand and One Nights" that is inspired by cities I have visited and hope to visit again. I named this painting after the costal city of Sousse in Tunisia, which I had the chance to visit for a day in 2018. Despite the short stay, this city is absolutely etched in my memory thanks to its lusciously sandy beaches.
The crisp salty air coupled with the warm sands served as the perfect appetizers to the stunningly sparkly waters. The atmosphere sang a tune of leisurely tranquil and the sun caressed the beach with such lyrical light. This experience was simply lush, and I very much hope to visit Sousse again to be graced by the warm sandy charm of its coast once more.
In this painting, I try to capture this fantastic memory on canvas. I made the painting in February 2021. The medium is oil on canvas of size 39x47 inches (100x120 cm). I have signed it on the front. The stretched canvas is staple free sides, wired on the back and with no need for framing. It's ready to hang.
