Abstract Acrylic Painting

This acrylic on canvas features the concept of unity as support of many, for a common cause. This was created for a project used in celebrating the unity of a community that is so closely knit together that no power can tear them apart. I chose to convey this in its abstract form, so that it could be any group or situation. It shows strength from a group and the feeling that we are not alone. I did this using several layers of paint, so it has some embossed effect as well. It has several under-layers and is very alive in the reality of strokes. I have also used the acrylic pouring technique and while the paint was wet, I sculpted and scraped lines to create a sense of figures together to form a united community. ‘All are even as a single heart, a single soul…’ As an artist, I have the opportunity to influence society and convey concepts that would take pages to put into words. This concept of unity is such a one. I hope the viewers can also relate to the strength that unity has, by the force and togetherness of this piece.
