Layer after layer, each layer different that the previous one, and if any seems incomplete the artist can always go back to improving it by adding on it. Working on mandala is both relaxing and satisfying. This piece has been made from a general plan of shapes, but still there had been empty spaces that needed to be filled in order to maintain the colour balance and to avoid the shapes to hang in a void without any support of its peers, that is the other shapes. This piece in particular was finished in several sittings with some that lasted only a few minutes and just a motif here or a leaf there. And the residual mood of the time has, as always directed the movements of my pen, brush or the dotting tool. As most forms of art that involve a person working with his or her canvas or any other medium with his tools, mandala art is also a form of meditation, where the artists negotiate with themselves in the confines of their brains, assessing the appropriateness of the next stroke they are going to place; and thus, comes the artist in peace as the piece is completed.
