Shah Jahān a Mughal emperor is best remembered for the grand monuments constructed during his reign, especially the Taj Mahal and the Motī Masjid (Pearl Mosque) in Agra and the Jāmiʿ Masjid and Red Fort in Delhi. He was known for love and poetry. Taj Mahal was built for Mumtaz Mahal his beloved wife. Shah Jahan gave us one of the seven wonders of the world. The artist has tied to bring out the features of the later emperor as he was inspired by the emperor’s work.
“You know Shah Jahan, life and youth, wealth and glory, they all drift away in the current of time. You strove, therefore, to perpetuate only the sorrow of your heart? Let the splendor of diamond, pearl and ruby vanish? Only let this one teardrop, this Taj Mahal, glisten spotlessly bright on the cheek of time, forever and ever.” -Rabindranath Tagore
