Handcrafted and hand made with love, I have used decoupage as my base, as for most of my art pieces. Each of my pieces has a story behind it; emotions and a tale to tell. I hope for the same to be resonated to its new home. To make them 100% waterproof I embellish with Acrylic paints, wax paste finally coating with thick waterproof varnish layers - subsequently making them potential heirlooms!
Sunkissed, touched by sunlight; a journey graced by warmth, hope, new beginnings and positivity. The composition also encapsulates grandeur and grace despite the simplicity of the subject - in the chosen colour palette consisting of gold's and rouge's – pointing to the ‘bigger meaning’ and ‘grandeur’ as well. It also symbolizes taking a pause, to rejuvenate and re-energize yourself – to ponder over the deeper meanings of life; meditation, serenity and a window into a hopeful future.
The composition also reflects upon humbleness, earthiness, the raw, rustic and the untainted. The sun itself – the supreme cosmic power to man, the life-force that enables all things to thrive and grow; representing life, influence and strength; energy, will and being clear; power, growth, health, passion and the cycle of life in many cultures and religions; a representation of the higher self.
Terracota plaque- wall hanging paper weight: Innocence and the purity of the mind and heart encapsulated - signifying the auspicious, bright, hopeful as well as frivolous, carefree and serene; the savagery, emptiness, vulnerability and potentiality. The innocence of a child – the simplicity and lack of knowledge, and their purity not yet spoiled by mundane affairs; a promise of a renewal of the world – almost as if a state of euphoria.
While thinking of a design scheme for this one, the aim was to bring back a bit of vintage, charm, frivolity, as well as a pure, clean, happy, cheerful and positive vibe. The scheme also represents the realms of the ‘unimaginable’ and the ‘unspoken’; in that the symbolic language of flowers has been recognized for centuries in many countries throughout Europe and Asia. Mythologies, folklore, sonnets, and plays of ancient Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, and Chinese are peppered with flower and plant symbolism – and for good reason – nearly every sentiment imaginable can be expressed with flowers. The ones depicted in the image composition here resemble very closely to the ‘Wild Roses’ – which in ancient mythology are considered to be a powerful symbol of love and adoration. These are also more than often associated with Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of beauty and love, often portrayed with a crown of roses around her head. In addition, these are also considered to be a symbolic carrier of secrets. The term ‘sub rosa’ comes from the tradition of hanging wild roses above meeting places and tables in the Roman Era. It is understood that anything said ‘under the roses’ will never be spoken of or repeated elsewhere.
