Cow Indian Art
A traditional art form that emerged in the 17th Century at the Nathdwara temple in Rajasthan, Pichwais are intricate paintings dedicated to Shrinathji and are typically hung behind the idol of the deity in local shrines. Cows are an important part of Hindu mythology and play a significant role in the story of Krishna (worshiped as Srinathji in Nathdwara in Rajasthan) and they, therefore, form an integral part of many Pichwai Paintings.
This painting has been made on a circular board. it has been bedecked using Kundan stones and a 3-D gold liner. Many parts of jewelry and the cloth on the back of the cow has been made using dot mandala. This painting is part of the set of 5 paintings that I created as ‘Animal series inspired by the Indian folk art forms’. The paintings can be used as a wall hanging, placed on a stand or used to create a custom wall.
