In this piece, an anonymous lady searches through the window, gazing and reflecting through a space between the wooden grains, the blurred texture of the grain contrasts with the clarity of the figure's facial features. The unnatural, ghostly nature of the figure represents her search for belonging; her eyes look weary, red, exhausted yet locked in a gaze. She appears to be enveloped by the background, compared to the wooden frame's depth in the foreground, almost disappearing into her thoughts. To convey the depth of the surroundings, I used shadows and neutrals that enhanced the vibrant hues found in her garment. The geometric frame from which the figure peeks creates a sense of dimension. My inspiration for this piece came from the intricacy of the mind. Symbolizing the endless wait for better things to come and the individual thoughts that we create, fantasize and long for the dissociative state of deep thinking.
