Tandavam Aarambh in Sanskrit means Beginning of Tandva. This painting is based on the Hindu belief of lord Shivas the supreme God, who is the creator and destroyer of our world. Ancient Hindu texts say that there are four yugas in the cycle. The Satya yuga, Treta yuga, Dvapara yuga, and last is Kali-yuga. At present we are living in Kali-yuga. It's said that, as we human progress ahead, we will lose all our morals, ethics, and humanity in the lust of power and wealth. Thus resulting at the end of " Dharma" which means cosmic law underlying right behavior and social order. And when there is " Adharma" Which means wrong behavior, Lord Shiva opens his Third Eye and performs a dance of destruction known as " Tandava".
Performing this dance means massive destruction and rebooting humanity to create a balance between Dharma and Adharma. In the current scenario, we see the exact same things happening around us and the whole world. Many countries fighting wars for dominance, wealth, and power. Manipulating our nature according to their needs and recently we see the ill effects, resulting in Global warming. And the recent pandemic has made me think if it's just the beginning of the " Tandava" the fierce dance of destruction. This vibrant geometric painting depicts Natraja ( shiva) beginning his Tandva in multiple dimensions interlocked into each other, as Lord Shiva is said to have control over multiple dimensions.
The figure of Nataraja appears distorted due to multiple dimensions intersecting each other. In the top portion of this painting, there is a half-opened Third Eye of Lord Shiva, giving us a wake-up call to correct our mistakes. Painting is divided into two parts. The three fourth part from the bottom is painted in vibrant hues of red, orange, and yellow to portray his fierceness on us which also includes his blood-red Iris. The top portion is painted in cool Blue and Violet shades, which shows hope that we still have time to correct ourselves before it's too late.
This is an abstract acrylic painting.
