Golf Oil Painting

This piece was inspired by the olden days of golf in England when baggy trousers, leather shoes, long-sleeved shirts were common sights in the tee box. I shaped this semi-impressionistic piece using a variety of palette knives and brushes with black and white oil paints to create unique shades and tints of grey that give movement to this classic oil painting. Before applying the oil paint, I prepared the gallery-quality canvas using white gesso to provide a smooth matte surface while also protecting the canvas from the oils in the paint, thereby ensuring the longevity of the canvas and the painting. While the style of golf has certainly changed over the years, the pleasure and intensity of the game will never go out of style.
