Dancing Ganesha: Tribute to M F Hussain

Sumana Malakar

In my new painting I've created dancing Ganesha. My medium is acrylic and it is on handmade paper, beautifully framed with glass. Lord Ganesha embodies many features that lend themselves so well to the paintbrush. When you look at his eyes, you want to convey the sharpness and concentration they signify. When you gave shape to his trunk, you need to ensure it suggests both agility and strength. His focus to attaining the ultimate truth, starting from the third eye, is represented in his majestic trunk. Ganesha also houses the universal sound "Om", and is said to reside in the mooladhra chakra - a place from where all spiritual pursuit begin. It is no wonder then that all auspicious occasions begin with an invocation to the great God Ganesha. I hope my art can spread peace, love and strength in your homes too.
